Prof. M. S. Shaila

Prof. Shaila is an eminent molecular virologist who has pioneeered research in the biology of morbilliviruses in India. She was the first to characterize the RNA dependent RNA polymerase complex of Rinderpest virus in India and has studied its components extensively w.r.t. their structure - functional relationships using the minigenome replication assay. Prof. Shaila has also developed diagnostic methods for detection of Rinderpest and Peste des petits ruminants viruses and a subunit vaccine against rinderpest virus.

Prof. D. N. Deobagkar

Prof. Deobagkar is an eminent Molecular biologist. He has wide ranging experience in microbial molecular biology. He studied the effect of host cellular proteins on susceptibility to flaviviruses - including Dengue and Chikungunyz. He has worked closely with the biotechnology industry. He was associated with the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune University and lead the Goa University as a vice chancellor and played an important role in the formation of Indian Institute of scientific and educational research.

Dr. Vidya Arankalle

Dr. Vidya is a molecular virologist with leadership in the biology of Hepatitis Viruses. She has studied all aspects of Hepatitis viruses extensively including epidemiology and molecular biology and played a critical role in the national efforts to detect, monitor and control Hepatitis in India. Dr. Vidya has developed India's first Hepatitis A vaccine. As a deputy director of the National Institute of Virology, she has also worked extensively on other viral diseases Dengue, Japanese encephalitis, etc.

Dr. GLN Prasad Rao

Dr Prasad Rao is an eminent medical virologist with experience in development & manufacture of viral vaccines. He was associated with the Pasteur Institute of India, Kunoor  for over 20 yrs and developed India's first cell based Rabies Vaccine. Dr. Prasad has worked closely with leading biotechnology companies like Bharat Biotech, Indian Immunologicals, Shanta Biotech, etc. Dr. Prasad founded the Indian Academy of Vaccinology and is currently its editor.
