SARS-COV-2: PSEUDOVIRUS NEUTRALIZATION ASSAY
Pseudo Virus expressing SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein available for Neutralisation Assay
Pseudovirus Neutralization Assay is used as a safe, high throughput and cost effective alternative to traditional Plaque Reduction Neutralization Assay for determination of efficacy of candidate vaccines and determination of titres of neutralizing antibodies reactive to different pathogenic viruses.
Pseudoviruses are routinely used using two types of technologies – (1) Lentivirus & (2) Vesicular Stomatitis Virus based technologies. However, these systems are difficult to adapt and a new user frequently spends upto 6 months before being able to produce quality Pseudoviruses efficiently and standardize a neutralization assay using them.
The proprietary Active Virosome Technology platform of Seagull BioSolutions that is useful for production of Pseudoviruses expressing surface glycoproteins from a wide range of viral pathogens – including Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, Ebola and more recently SARS-CoV-2 - rapidly, easily and economically.
Seagull is offering a reagent kit useful for establishment of a Pseudovirus Neutralization assay for detection of Neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. The SARS-CoV-2 Pseudoviruses of Seagull BioSolutions express the SARS-CoV-2 and are able to infect ACE2+ animal cells and express Spike protein using packaged MV RNA dependent RNA polymerase. This Spike protein can be detected by ELISA and inhibition of expression of Spike protein provides a useful parameter for determination neutralizing activity of antibodies.
